The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria to award 2020 Heifer Challenge finalists at Melbourne Showgrounds

With the 2020 Stock & Land Beef Week about to commence, The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) is preparing to commence an eight-day and 32 property journey across Victoria and southern New South Wales.

Offering participants invaluable feedback on their female stock, information on how to improve selection traits and recommendations to strengthen the overall bloodlines of the herd, the RASV Heifer Challenge, now in its ninth year, has a diverse range of studs competing for the title of Heifer Challenge Champion.

Participants provide a pen of ten heifers, which are judged on quality standards by an independent livestock judging expert. In 2020 industry expert Mr Rick Smith will be assessing the herds.

Concluding the judging is a presentation dinner that will be held at Melbourne Showgrounds from 6:00pm on Friday 7 February.

The evening will include the announcement of the 10 RASV Heifer Challenge finalists, culminating in the presentation of the Reserve Champion and Champion Studs for 2020.

Guests will enjoy a menu designed by Executive Chef, Neil Rocke, featuring award-winning food and wine from the RASV food & beverage award programs and a special performance by Greg Champion from the legendary ABC radio programme The Coodabeen Champions.

The RASV CEO Brad Jenkins was excited about providing an important social event for the participants and stakeholders.

"The evening will provide a great opportunity for everyone involved in Stock & Land Beef Week and the beef industry to socialise, network and celebrate with producers and industry professionals."

"We encourage all RASV Heifer Challenge participants to attend the evening which will be a fantastic and entertaining event" said Mr Jenkins.

Tickets are $75 per person and are available now. If you would like to attend this wonderful event, please contact the RASV on 9281 744 or
