Following what has been rated as the best Stock & Land Beef Week ever, dates have been set for 2106 Beef Week to run from Wednesday January 27 to Thursday February 4.
This gives studs the opportunity to consider their sale dates and make arrangements for their 2016 bull selling program according to Beef Week director Geoff Phillips.
Beef Week 2016 will mark 25 years since the event started with 50 studs in 1992. It now regularly tops 200 studs with most using it as their major marketing exercise.
Beef Week 2016 will open on Wednesday January 27 in the north-east Riverina, move to the south-east Riverina the next day and then cross the Murray for Day 3 in north-east Victoria on Friday January 29. Days 4 and 5 around Melbourne will be over the weekend and then its off to east Gippsland for Day 6, Monday February 1. It’s then over to the busy two days in the Western District finishing up with Day 9 on Thursday February 4 covering the Goulburn Valley and the western Riverina.
"This year we had many visitors traveling through all the days which indicates the importance of the event," said Mr Phillips.
"We had reports of outstanding bull sales during Beef Week but we estimate another 4000 bulls were on display to be sold at the Autumn bull sales which are now in full swing".
The RASV Beef Week Heifer Challenge which involves the judging of pens of 10 registered heifers has created additional visits to stud that enter with visitors keen to discover the standard of females that will progress into the stud herd and produce the bulls of the future. Results of the 2025 Heifer Challenge and an interview with the judge, Jack Woodbourn, are on www.beefweek.com.au.
